Hello, wherever you are. I hope you are having a good day, whatever the weather may be. Sometimes we wish for different conditions, but we can still appreciate the beauty of the day. Today’s question for introspection is about our attitude and behavior. How do we deal with them, especially when they are not aligned with God’s will?
The Challenge of Attitude and Behavior
I’m sure you have experienced situations where someone had a bad attitude or behavior that affected you negatively. Maybe it was a classmate who was rude, a lazy coworker, a friend who was jealous, or a stranger who was impatient. How did you react to them? Did you let their attitude or behavior influence yours? Did you respond with kindness or anger? Did you try to understand them or judge them?
We all have to deal with people with different attitudes and behaviors. Sometimes they are not nice, maybe ungodly or unrighteous. And sometimes we have to socialize with them to get things done, such as checking out or ordering food. How do we handle these interactions without compromising our attitude and behavior?
The Biblical Standard of Attitude and Behavior

The Bible gives us a clear standard of what kind of attitude and behavior we should have as followers of Christ. In 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Paul tells Timothy how to find an overseer for the church. In these verses, he lists the qualities that an overseer should have, which are also applicable to any believer. These qualities include being faithful, temperate, self-controlled, respectful, hospitable, able to teach, gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money, and worthy of full respect. These qualities reflect a godly attitude and behavior that honors God and serves others.
The Question of Introspection
The question I have for you today is this: am I jealous, impure, critical, irritable, touchy, or distrustful? These are some of the attitudes and behaviors that we need to check for in ourselves. You may not be any of those, but you may be touched by some from time to time. But we need to, no matter what, replace ourselves with good attitudes and good behaviors. Therefore, the ones that are not of God, need to be kept in check. Our attitudes and behaviors need to be above reproach.

Do you feel that you are a person that is worthy of full respect today? Are you due respect? Now I know that some say that the concept of respect has been lost, and that may be true, but are you able to receive bad attitude and bad behavior and still be respectful to those who may be disrespecting you? Do you have a good testimony outside? Do you have a good testimony in church or your job? Do you have a good testimony when you are frustrated from waiting in long lines?
Today, the question, and again these are just a few examples, is: am I jealous, impure, critical, irritable, touchy, or distrustful...? because there are other attitudes and behaviors that we may carry around throughout the day that deep down we know we don’t want them there. Therefore, look at 1 Timothy 3, and see how those qualities reflect in you today. And enjoy this beautiful day.
